Lovin Life as a Missionary 7/18/16

First of all, Mom, I met someone that knows you. Or more like, knows your cake business and mad skills!! πŸ˜‰ The Cottrel/Thomas wedding. The grandma lives in the ward and was talking at a Relief Society lunch the other day about when her granddaughter got married and some nice woman let them use her backyard in Kaysville. She said it was a beautiful reception in a wonderful neighborhood. She then raved about the naked cake that was made by a kind and loving woman. I was sort of eavesdropping and asked if she remembered if it was in a cul de sac at the Frodsham house. She lit up and said "YES! Do you know them too!" I got all smiley and said that in fact I knew both woman and loved them both dearly.
Anyways, you and Kristi have fans clear out here in Ocean Springs Mississippi!

Now on to the work related stuff!

The Ocean Springs ward is a military ward which means that about 30-40% of the families here are here on military related assignments. The base isn't too far away from us, so it isn't surprising. Two of the families that I met my first week here, the Chesleys and the Thomas, moved away last weekend. They had received orders at a new base, so off they went.

I have a funny story for y'all! We spend A LOT of time in the sun, whether it be walking, biking, tracting, whatever. It has made me pretty tan. Anyways, when we were knocking on doors the other day, we were talking to a woman and got to where we were from. Then she asked where I was from. I said UT. She said, "No honey. Where are you from. Like nationality. What race are your parents" I said that my ancestors were from Europe, and my parents were both white/Caucasian. She shook her head and said "Honey, you been lied to. There is no way you are full white. You gotta have some of the Native American or somethin in ya." I just about died πŸ˜‚ I assured her that my parents were for sure both white and that as far as I knew I didn't have a Native American or darker skinned parent. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰

Another fun thing to report. I tried alligator this week. One of the members brought us some to try and of course I had to see what all the hype was about! It is so good! You need try it too!!!

I made the mistake of praying for patience this week as something to work on. Never again. I have definitely learned some patience over the past 6 days full of Sister Steadman's finger cracking, Idaho slow driving, OCD cleaning that leaves me lost as to where my stuff is, and her deep clean that resulted in everything SHE didn't want being sent home or thrown away. Stuff from members. Food. Clothes. CDs. Whatever she didn't want, she got rid of. Without telling me. πŸ˜ Love her to death, she is a great missionary, but I had to pause and just look at her with a πŸ˜/πŸ˜’ face. Silly girl. Still love her though. I guess πŸ˜‰
Word of advice, don't pray for patience! πŸ˜‰ When I told one of the Elders I was working on patience, he laughed and said "Good luck with that Lindberg! You'll learn some for sure!" Never again.

All together a great week! I am lovin the coast! It is so fun!
Love y'all so much!!! πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜
