In other news, Summer, from Clinton is gearing up to serve a mission!! Sister Fa'ulao and I taught her and baptized her, and now she is going on a mission!!!!! My reply to her email when I found out was just a bunch of squeals and happy faces!! She is so amazing!!!
Sister Allred and I sang in church yesterday. It was really fun. We sang an arrangement of "I Stand All Amazed" So pretty! Then Sister Allred had the opportunity to speak. She is very adamant about what she says, so it comes across at times like a Sister Missionary version of a Baptist Preacher preaching on hellfire and damnation. She reigned herself in at the perfect moment though so it just showed how sincere she is about what she was teaching (magnifying your life with missionary work). It was a really good talk!
We had three investigators there to witness it all. Rebecca, Randy, and Chris.
Rebecca is someone Sister Mitchell and I tracted into in January. She wasn't interested, but accepted a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and we went on our way. Fast forward a month and a half and Sister Allred and I get a text while in Ward Council saying Rebecca had read over the pamphlet and done some searching, and now wanted us to come over and explain more. We told her we would be more than happy to. So we went last Monday at 3 and talked to her. She had a lot of good questions about what we believe and why. My favorite question: "I'm not ready for this yet, but hypothetically, what does joining your church involve?"
We tried to contain our joy as we answered. She is truly amazing! She promised to come to church to see how we worship, and though she was a bit overwhelmed with it all, she said she enjoyed it and would love to continue coming!
Randy is someone we have been teaching for a while. He married a member this past December, and we have been working to help him understand what all we believe. He isn't the typical investigator since he spent some time in prison and while there took part in a deep study of the Bible. He is very knowledgeable about it, but doesn't fully understand all that he reads so he doesn't quite know what he believes. We have been focusing on him and building on what he already knows rather than just charging forth with the lessons. One lesson point at a time. Today we plan to teach about Faith.
Chris, is the guy friend of Christan. She invited him to come to church and see what we were all about. He calls us the "Normans." In Gospel Principles class he asked about the Law of Chastity and what the "Book of Norman" was all about. Sister Austin tried her best to explain the first one to him without going to far from the lesson about the scriptures, but in the end just invited him to read the chapter about it in the book. She then went on to explain about the Book of Mormon and Rebecca got to ask some questions about it being "the most true book" Sister Austin answered it really well, with the help of President Silas.
It was a really good lesson. Chris says he might like to come back some more to see if this is for him. Christan however doesn't feel he is ready to change. He seems like a nice enough guy.
The weather here is trying to decide what season it would like to be. One day it is 80s and humid, the next it is 40s-50s and humid. You kind of just have to walk outside and guess what attire will be appropriate for the day. It adds a nice surprise aspect to the day.
I love y'all! Hope you have a fabulous week!!
